Installation and activation
Install RSS Retriever like any other WordPress plugin, then activate it with the name and email from your purchase email.
Requirements
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| WordPress | A current WordPress version on a site with a live, public URL. The plugin works with online resources and cannot run on localhost. |
| PHP | PHP 7.0 or greater. Activation stops with an error on older versions. |
| mbstring | Required. The Syndicator page shows an error if the extension is missing. |
| GD | Required to store images locally, convert PNG images and save generated images. |
cURL or allow_url_fopen | At least one of them must be available to download feeds and pages. |
| ZipArchive | Needed for ZIP-compressed feeds and for the automatic installation of the Full-Text RSS script. |
| Uploads folder | /wp-content/uploads must be writable to store images and videos. |
When something is missing, the main RSS Retriever page shows a red notice that names the PHP extension or setting. Ask your host to enable it.
Install the plugin
- Download the plugin ZIP file using the link in your purchase email.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP file, click Install Now, then Activate.
You can also upload the unpacked rssretriever folder to /wp-content/plugins/ by FTP and activate the plugin on the Plugins page.
Activate your license
Until the plugin is registered, the RSS Retriever menu opens the RSS Retriever Registration form.
- Enter the Activation name and Email exactly as they appear in your purchase email.
- Click Click to register.
After a successful registration, the menu shows the Syndicator and the other plugin pages.
A license is valid for the number of sites you bought. If you clone a site to another domain, the clone loses its registration and must be activated separately.
Moving the license to another owner or site
To register the copy to another account owner, open General Settings and click Reset your registration data at the bottom of the page. The plugin then asks for new activation data. To move a license to a new domain, contact support by email.
Updates
RSS Retriever updates its core automatically. If you need to keep the current version, for example on a site you test carefully, tick Disable auto-updates on the General Settings page.
The plugin also downloads some data from the CyberSEO server: the list of translation languages, API endpoints and the instructions used by [gpt_article] and the AI Spinner. This keeps them up to date without a new plugin release.
Full-Text RSS script
Full-text extraction can use the free, GPL-licensed Full-Text RSS script. It is not part of RSS Retriever, but the plugin can download and install it for you: Auto-install Full-Text RSS is enabled by default in General Settings, and the Install Full-Text RSS script button installs it immediately. See Extract full-text articles.
Uninstalling
Deactivate and delete the plugin on the Plugins page. The registration data is always removed, so a reinstalled copy must be activated again. Your feeds and settings stay in the database by default, so a reinstall picks up where you left off. To erase everything, tick Delete data on uninstall in General Settings before deleting the plugin. Posts and media that were already imported are not removed.
