Read-only. The absolute path of your WordPress installation on the server. You need it, for example, for the %random_file[path]% placeholder, which expects an absolute server path.
RSS pull mode
Decides what starts the regular feed checks.
- Auto
- Uses the WordPress pseudo cron, executed every N minutes (default 4). WordPress runs it when someone visits your site after the scheduled time has passed, so on a site without visitors nothing happens. The interval cannot be shorter than Max execution time allows: if it is, the plugin raises it automatically.
- Cron job or manually
- You run a real cron job on your server. The page shows the exact command with your secret URL, for example to run once an hour:
Every call checks all feeds that are due. If you use a caching plugin, add this URL to its exclusion list, or the cache answers the request and the feeds are never pulled.0 * * * * /usr/bin/curl --silent https://your-site.com/?pull-feeds=SECRET
Auto works out of the box. For sites with many feeds, AI processing or little traffic, a real cron job is more reliable and does not slow down page views of your visitors.
In both modes, each feed is still pulled only when its own Check for updates every interval has passed.
Default AI model
The AI engine used by the %gpt_keywords%, %gpt_keyphrase% and %gpt_image_prompt% placeholders. It is also used by %gpt_prompt[...]% and by [ai_generate] when no engine is given. Default: openai-gpt-4o-mini. Type an engine name or pick one with Quick Select; see AI engine names.
Runtime options
The following options do not change stored posts. They change the HTML when a page is displayed, so they work instantly for all existing posts and disappear when you turn them off. They apply to every post on the site, not only to imported ones.
- Open links in new window
- Adds
target="_blank"to all external links in post content and excerpts. - Use rel="nofollow"
- Adds
nofollowto therelattribute of external links. - Use rel="noreferrer"
- Adds
noreferrerto therelattribute of external links. External links always getnoopenerwhile any of these link options is on. - Post images
- Show all images (default), Hide first image (useful when the first image duplicates the featured image), Hide post thumbnail (hides the featured image on single posts and pages) or Hide all images but post thumbnail.
- Link to source
- Post titles link to the original article instead of the post on your site. Applies to imported posts only.
Keep downloaded images
Enabled by default. Images and videos that RSS Retriever downloaded stay on the server when a post is permanently deleted with Empty Trash. Some plugins and themes trigger the WordPress before_delete_post hook without really deleting a post; with this option off, such a plugin could cause media files to be deleted. Turn it off only if you want the plugin to clean up media of deleted posts and you trust your other plugins.
Full text extractor URL
The URL of the Full-Text RSS script used by Extract full-text articles. It is filled automatically when the plugin installs the script. You can also point it to your own installation. While this field is empty, the page shows an Install Full-Text RSS script button.
The Full-Text RSS script is a separate GPL-licensed product used as a third-party service. It is not part of RSS Retriever.
Auto-install Full-Text RSS
Enabled by default. The Full-Text RSS script is downloaded and installed during the next scheduled update.
Max execution time
Maximum PHP execution time in seconds given to RSS Retriever for one run. Default: 400. 0 removes the limit. AI generation and image downloads take time; if runs are cut off, increase this value (your host may enforce its own limit).
Sort feed sources by
Order of the feed list on the Syndicator page: by name or by date added.
Proxy list
One proxy per line, as IP:PORT or USERNAME:PASSWORD@IP:PORT. A feed uses these proxies only if its Proxy mode is set to Use proxy list.
Shuffle proxies shuffles the list every time the plugin pulls a feed, which spreads requests across all proxies.
Disable auto-updates
Stops automatic updates of the plugin core.
Delete data on uninstall
When ticked, deleting the plugin permanently erases all RSS Retriever settings, feeds, keys, the synonym table and the log from the database. Imported posts and media are not affected.
Reset your registration data
The red button at the bottom removes the activation name and email of this copy, so you can register it to another license owner. See Moving the license.
